New BD Sterilization Facility in Környe – Investment Marked by Groundbreaking
Yesterday, the groundbreaking ceremony for Becton Dickinson’s investment in Környe Industrial Park near Tatabánya took place. Representing our company, Attila Borbély, CEO, and Attila Tóth Jr., Deputy CEO, attended the event in person.
The project is of outstanding importance for Hungary’s medical technology industry: as part of an approximately HUF 17 billion development, a regionally unique, robotized sterilization facility will be built.
The investment will be developed on roughly 4,300 m² next to the existing manufacturing plant, including sterilization production units, preparation/sterilization/neutralization chambers, an EO storage area, and a logistics office. The development is expected to create 25 new, high value-added jobs, and is planned to be delivered between 2026 and 2028, with sterilization operations expected to start in 2029.
For BD, a key strategic step forward is bringing the sterilization process in-house, simplifying the supply chain and supporting patient safety. As a result of the investment, the company may become the only European manufacturer of glass prefilled syringes (PFS) with its own sterilization capacity.
Our company is participating in the project as the general designer. The building will accommodate specialized manufacturing technology, requiring complex design work and a high level of engineering diligence.
We are proud to contribute our engineering expertise to a development that will strengthen Hungary’s role in the international medical technology supply chain over the long term.
