In December last year, the Hungarian legislature adopted the so-called ESG Act1, which is a significant step towards making the actions of key economic actors towards sustainability more transparent and comparable. The ESG is the framework of sustainability directives and regulations in force in the European Union, and one of the main tasks of the Hungarian ESG Act is to support the implementation of the European Green Deal and its enforcement in Hungary. The mainstreaming of sustainability aspects will certainly be one of the most important factors in shaping the regulatory and investment environment for economic operators at national, EU and global level.
