Sopron swimming pool

The Lőver Swimming Pool in Sopron is a multifunctional swimming and leisure complex developed on the site of the former Csik Ferenc Swimming Pool and Open-Air Bath. The aim of the development was to provide Sopron with a modern sports facility suitable for competitive sport, youth training, swimming education and recreational use.

The new swimming pool serves not only the city’s sports life, but also functions as a facility of regional importance. The complex includes a competition pool suitable for international events, spectator stands, teaching pools, a warm-water pool, jacuzzi, saunas, steam cabins and sports support areas. The facility therefore supports elite sport, mass sport and everyday recreation at the same time.

We participated in the investment with technical supervision services. Our assignment was connected to the construction works of the “Development of the Sopron Lőver Bath – Csik Ferenc Swimming Pool, outdoor pool and supporting buildings” project, implemented under the Modern Cities Programme – Lőver Programme. Our task covered the professional control of construction processes, the review of technical content, support for quality assurance and ensuring the traceability of implementation.

The professional complexity of the project came from the need to coordinate the pool areas, mechanical systems, spectator stands, changing rooms, wellness functions, circulation routes and accessibility requirements in a high-traffic sports and public-use facility. In a building of this kind, operational safety, clear spatial organisation and maintainability are just as important as the architectural appearance itself.

The value of the Lőver Swimming Pool lies in the fact that it provides Sopron with modern sports and leisure infrastructure for long-term use. The facility contributes to the city’s sports life, supports swimming education and training opportunities for young people, and creates a new quality of local and regional community use.
