Energy-Efficient Reconstruction of the State Heart Hospital
The energy-efficient reconstruction of the State Heart Hospital in Balatonfüred was connected to the modernisation of an operating healthcare institution. The aim of the project was to reduce the energy consumption of the building complex while improving the comfort, operational reliability and technical background required for hospital operation.
We participated in the project with building design services. Our work was related to improving the thermal performance of the buildings, the energy-efficient reconstruction of the boiler house and central heat supply system, and the preparation of the related architectural and engineering solutions.
The development affected several interconnected technical areas. The energy-efficient modernisation of internal lighting, the cooling system, kitchen and laundry equipment, as well as the integration of photovoltaic panels into the electrical system, jointly supported more energy-efficient operation.
The professional significance of the task came from the need to prepare the modernisation in a sensitive healthcare environment. In a cardiology rehabilitation institution, the reliability of technical systems is directly linked to the safety of patient care and the predictability of everyday operation.
The value of the reconstruction lies in the fact that it supported the more energy-efficient operation of the existing hospital building stock. The project served at the same time to reduce operating costs, support more sustainable institutional operation and renew the technical quality of the built environment that supports patient care.
