Apollo Tyres Manufacturing Plant
The Apollo Tyres plant in Gyöngyöshalász was developed as the Indian company’s first greenfield manufacturing investment in Europe. The approximately 175,000-square-metre industrial complex, located on a 72-hectare site, became a major element of the company’s European production and supply network.
The plant manufactures Apollo- and Vredestein-branded tyres for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and commercial vehicles. The planned annual capacity of the first development phase was 5.5 million passenger-car and light-commercial-vehicle tyres and 675,000 truck and bus tyres.
The factory combines closely connected production, storage, energy, logistics, office and staff functions. Buildings serving the different manufacturing stages, utilities and material-handling routes had to be arranged within a coherent site-wide system.
CÉH zRt. provided comprehensive building design and project management services. At the beginning of the project, our design team visited Apollo Tyres facilities in India to study their production technology, operational processes and specific architectural and engineering requirements.
The entire factory was developed as a three-dimensional digital model. BIM-based design supported coordination between the manufacturing technology, building structures, mechanical and electrical systems, and site infrastructure. Working within a shared model enabled potential interdisciplinary conflicts to be identified early and project information to be managed consistently.
Through project management, CÉH zRt. supported coordination of the design and construction processes, technical decisions, schedules and interdependent activities. On a large industrial development of this scale, it was particularly important to align the installation of production equipment, building works and the testing required for operational start-up.
