CATL Battery Factory

CATL’s Debrecen plant is the company’s second European battery manufacturing hub. The greenfield development in Debrecen’s Southern Economic Zone has **a planned total site area of 221 hectares**, while the plant’s **planned annual production capacity upon full completion is 100 GWh**. The facility supports the production of batteries for electric vehicles in Europe.

Our design scope covered part of the development, encompassing **production, warehouse and support buildings with a combined floor area of approximately 345,000 m²**. We prepared the designs **based on the process data and environmental permits provided by CATL**. Our work involved facilities serving a range of functions, including the electrode welding workshop, the module plant, the quality control laboratory, the canteen, and warehouses for raw materials, transit goods and waste. Our scope also included the gatehouses and the bridge structures connecting the individual buildings.

In an industrial development of this scale, coordinating the various process and operational functions, together with the requirements of the different engineering disciplines, is a key design task. Alongside our building and bridge design expertise, BIM-based workflows supported the coordination of the complex design tasks.
