CATL Battery Factory
CATL’s investment in Debrecen is the company’s second battery manufacturing hub in Europe. The 105-hectare greenfield development is located in the Southern Economic Zone of Debrecen and supports the European production of batteries for electric vehicles.
In the CATL project, our scope included the design of production, warehouse and service buildings. Our work covered facilities with a wide range of functions, including the electrode welding workshop, module plant, quality control laboratory and canteen, as well as raw material, transfer and waste storage buildings. We also designed the gatehouses and the bridge structures connecting the individual buildings.
In an industrial development of this scale, coordinating the various technological and operational functions and managing the related multidisciplinary requirements are key aspects of the design process. Alongside our building and bridge design expertise, BIM-based workflows supported the coordination of these complex design tasks.
The development is one of CATL’s largest battery manufacturing investments in Europe and is being implemented on a 105-hectare greenfield industrial site in Debrecen’s Southern Industrial Park.
