Toy Factory and Warehouse

The LEGO toy factory and warehouse in Nyíregyháza was developed as a greenfield investment. The 122,000-square-metre factory complex serves the production, assembly, packaging and warehousing of System and Duplo product lines, complemented by logistics, energy supply and office functions.

We participated in the project with building design services. During the design process, we had to create a building complex that supports production processes, internal logistics, warehousing, energy supply and office operation at the same time.

One of the key professional considerations of the project was modularity and flexible expandability. The changing-room and technology buildings had to be designed to serve the needs of later development phases as well. In a production base of this scale, long-term expandability plays a decisive role from the earliest design decisions.

The operation of the factory is supported by modern, energy-efficient solutions. Lighting control adjusted to natural light conditions and metering systems for continuous energy efficiency monitoring help the building function not only as a high-capacity facility, but also as an industrial building that can be operated efficiently in the long term.

The Nyíregyháza factory is one of the key sites of LEGO’s manufacturing presence in Hungary. The development created new production and logistics capacity, while providing an industrial environment capable of supporting production growth and future expansions.
