Mohács Slaughterhouse and Wastewater Treatment Investment
The MCS Slaughterhouse in Mohács was developed as a large-scale food industry investment connected to the Bonafarm Group. The aim of the greenfield development was to create a modern pig slaughtering, deboning, cutting and packaging facility capable of producing at high capacity for both domestic and international markets, while meeting strict food safety requirements.
The operation of the facility is based on complex industrial and logistics processes. Slaughtering, processing, packaging, cooling and dispatch functions need to work in close coordination, while hygiene, animal welfare, food safety and environmental requirements also define the operation of the building and the technology.
We participated in the project as an independent technical consultant. Our task covered professional support for the investment, the interpretation of technical content and consultancy services supporting the control of implementation. In a technology-intensive industrial development of this kind, it is especially important that investor decisions are supported by well-founded technical considerations.
One of the important elements of the project was wastewater treatment. In the case of a high-capacity food industry plant, water use, the treatment of technological wastewater and environmental compliance are not secondary issues, but basic conditions for reliable operation. The investment therefore created not only production capacity, but also the supporting infrastructure required for operation.
The value of the development lies in the creation of a modern food industry centre in Mohács, providing significant processing capacity, creating jobs and strengthening the industrial role of the region. The investment is an important part of the Hungarian meat industry value chain, connected to the operation of the Bonafarm Group and Pick Szeged.
