Bosch Campus Pedestrian Bridge

At Bosch’s development centre in Kőbánya, the Campus 1 and Campus 2 buildings stand on opposite sides of Sibrik Miklós út. Their coordinated operation required a direct connection that would support both the daily movement of employees and the safe, weather-protected transport of laboratory equipment. This link is provided by the 135-metre-long, two-level pedestrian bridge completed in early 2024.

CÉH zRt. contributed to the project as lead designer. Our bridge engineering team was involved from the earliest concept stage and assessed several possible alignments before the final route was selected. The architectural, structural, bridge engineering, building services, electrical, landscape and fire safety solutions were coordinated within an integrated design system. Following the planning permission stage, CÉH remained involved throughout detailed design and construction.

Defining the bridge alignment and the positions of its supports was particularly complex due to the dense urban setting, the extensive utility infrastructure and the road traffic passing beneath the structure. Within the limited space available, the bridge had to span Sibrik Miklós út safely while connecting precisely to the buildings of the two campuses.

The bridge’s V-shaped cross-section combines two distinct uses. The wider upper level is an open, landscaped promenade that extends the roof gardens of the two campuses. The narrower, glazed lower level provides a protected route for employees and enables laboratory equipment to be transported between the buildings regardless of weather conditions.

One of the most complex stages of construction was the installation of the 33-metre bridge section above Sibrik Miklós út. The complete section was lifted into position during a single six-hour overnight operation in the summer of 2023. The lift required detailed logistical planning and carefully coordinated traffic management.

The pedestrian bridge transformed circulation between the two campuses into a direct and practical internal connection. Its two-level design supports everyday operational movement, the transport of specialised equipment and the continuity of the roof gardens. In addition to improving the operation of Bosch’s development centre, the bridge has become a distinctive element of the streetscape along Sibrik Miklós út.
