M7 Motorway Bridges and Engineering Structures (Nagykanizsa–Becsehely)
The approximately 18-kilometre section of the M7 motorway between Nagykanizsa and Becsehely was constructed as part of the development of the expressway network in southwestern Hungary. Bypassing Nagykanizsa to the north, the route connects to the previously completed Becsehely–Letenye section, improving national and international road connections in the region.
Our task was to provide comprehensive design services for the section's 24 engineering structures. The bridges have a combined length of 928 metres and a total deck area of 18,210 m². Most of the structures, ranging in width from 8.63 to 31.88 metres, were built using precast bridge girders.
During the design process, we had to adapt the bridge structures to different crossing conditions, the geometry of road junctions and varying carriageway widths. The use of precast bridge girders was one of the defining technical features of the project.
The completed bridges and engineering structures provide grade-separated crossings between the motorway and existing transport routes, contributing to the development of the region's expressway network.
