M60 Motorway Bridges and Engineering Structures (Bóly–Pécs)
The approximately 30-kilometre section of the M60 motorway between Bóly and Pécs connects the regional centre of Baranya County to the M6 motorway and Hungary’s national expressway network. The varied terrain along the route and the existing transport corridors required bridges with different structural designs.
Our task was to provide comprehensive design services for the 22 engineering structures along this section, with a total bridge deck area of 30,516 m². The bridges range in width from 8.63 to 38.80 metres. Their designs incorporated several structural solutions, including cast-in-place voided reinforced concrete slabs, cast-in-place concrete frames, steel frame structures and superstructures using precast bridge girders.
A key engineering challenge was the design of two major viaducts. Measuring 459 and 222 metres in length, these structures span valleys and ensure the continuous alignment of the motorway. Selecting the appropriate structural systems required careful consideration of local site conditions, span lengths and traffic requirements.
The bridges and engineering structures form essential parts of the M60 motorway, contributing to the expressway connections of Pécs and the surrounding region.
