M3 Motorway Structures (13 structures), Görbeháza–Nyíregyháza

The design of 13 road structures on the Görbeháza–Nyíregyháza section of the M3 motorway was connected to the development of the motorway network in Eastern Hungary. The construction of this section was an important step in providing Nyíregyháza and the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region with a more direct expressway connection to the capital and the national road network.

We participated in the project with bridge design services. The general design of the 13 structures covered a total bridge surface of 9,638 square metres. The widths of the bridges ranged from 8.63 to 33.68 metres, requiring design solutions adapted to different traffic and site conditions.

The structures were designed with precast bridge girder superstructures. During the design process, the bridges had to be treated not as separate elements, but as a coordinated group of structures connected to the operation of the motorway section.

The professional focus of the task came from the need for the structures to function safely, durably and in a way that supports efficient operation in a high-traffic expressway environment. The design therefore supported the development of the eastern Hungarian connections of the M3 motorway and the more efficient operation of regional transport.
