M0 Motorway Structures, Main Road No. 51–M5
The design of five road structures on the southern sector of the M0 motorway, between Main Road No. 51 and the M5 motorway, was connected to an important capacity-expansion transport development in the region. The new 2x3-lane motorway section with emergency lanes was intended to provide safer, higher-capacity routing for traffic bypassing the capital.
We participated in the project with bridge design services. The general design of the five structures covered a total bridge surface of 5,801 square metres. The widths of the bridges ranged from 8.13 to 15.23 metres, requiring structural solutions adapted to different traffic and site conditions.
The planned structures included bridges with voided monolithic, monolithic post-tensioned ribbed, and precast girder superstructures. The different structural solutions had to be coordinated as part of the operation of a complete road section.
As part of a high-traffic motorway section, the structures had to function safely, durably and in a way that supports efficient operation. The design therefore supported the capacity expansion of the southern sector of the M0 motorway and the more efficient operation of road connections around the capital.
