Renovation of the Stations on the Rákos–Hatvan Railway Line
The renovation of the stations on the Rákos–Hatvan railway line was carried out as part of a larger railway infrastructure development. The aim of the modernisation was to make the station environments connected to suburban and long-distance rail transport more comfortable, safer and easier to use for passengers.
The modernisation of the line was completed, and station environments and passenger connections were renewed at several locations. The development of platforms, pedestrian connections, accessible routes, passenger areas and related facilities together contributed to improving the level of service on the railway line for everyday commuting and regional transport.
We participated in the project with building design services. Our design team prepared building permit, tender and construction design documentation related to the stations of Pécel, Isaszeg, Tura and Aszód. Our work covered architectural and discipline-specific design tasks connected to station buildings and passenger functions.
The professional complexity of the project came from the need to adapt the design tasks to an operating railway environment, fixed transport connections and different site conditions. At the stations, passenger flow, accessibility, operation, transport safety and the existing railway infrastructure all had to be taken into account at the same time.
The plans prepared for Aszód station were based on a distinctive “green hill house” concept. Although this design version was ultimately not implemented, it clearly reflected the design intention that station buildings should appear not merely as support functions, but as distinctive transport points connected to their local urban environment.
The value of the development lies in the fact that the station environments along the Rákos–Hatvan line became more transparent, comfortable and accessible for passengers. The modernised stations contribute to making suburban rail transport more attractive and to strengthening the rail connections of settlements around Budapest.
