KÖKI Terminal Shopping Centre

KÖKI Terminal was developed at one of the key urban hubs of Kőbánya-Kispest, where retail, office and transport functions are closely connected. The development brought together a shopping centre, an intermodal transport connection, P+R parking, office areas and public services.

The particularity of the project came from the fact that it was not the preparation of a standalone retail building, but the development of a complex urban infrastructure and shopping centre system. Metro, railway, bus and road connections, parking functions, shops, offices and public areas could only become a functioning system through a coordinated investment programme.

We participated in the preparation phase with project management and engineering consultancy services. Our work covered the definition of the investment programme, support for the development of the concept, supervision of the design process and authority approval procedures, as well as the organisation of project processes.

Digital collaboration also played a role in the preparation of the project: our task included setting up the project server system, which supported document management and information flow between the participants. In an investment of this scale, this is especially important, because decisions, designs, approval steps and disciplinary coordination can only be handled safely within a well-traceable system.

The urban role of KÖKI Terminal goes beyond its retail function. Connected to a major transport hub, the shopping centre has become one of the busy everyday locations for transfers, shopping, services and parking at the gateway to South Pest.
