McDonald's Restaurant Mosonmagyaróvár
Two new McDonald’s restaurants were developed as greenfield projects at the Mosoni rest area on the M1 motorway, near Mosonmagyaróvár, one on the Vienna-bound side and the other on the Budapest-bound side. The aim of the development was to expand and modernise services for motorway travellers. Both restaurants were built in line with McDonald’s “Experience of the Future” concept, featuring modern dining areas, touchscreen ordering kiosks and dual-lane McDrive facilities designed to provide faster drive-through service.
We provided project management and technical supervision services for the construction of both restaurants. Our project management team supported the coordination of general contracting activities and collaboration between project participants, while our technical supervisors monitored construction quality, compliance with technical requirements and conformity with the approved designs. Delivering the developments at two separate motorway locations required careful coordination of construction activities, restaurant technology and supporting infrastructure.
Sustainability was also an important consideration in the development. Approximately one-third of the buildings’ energy demand is covered by renewable energy sources, while waste heat generated by refrigeration and freezer equipment is recovered to preheat domestic hot water. In addition to making greater use of natural daylight, collected rainwater is used for the automatic irrigation systems.
The two new restaurants have contributed to improving services along the M1 motorway and expanding employment opportunities in the region. The operator planned to employ nearly 200 people at the two locations. The project demonstrates how we support the delivery of commercial and hospitality facilities through coordinated project management and consistent technical supervision.
