Akadémia Park – Officium Office Building

The Akadémia Park Officium Office Building was created through the conversion and extension of a former military cadet school in Budapest’s 2nd district. The aim of the development was to transform the historic building, originally used for military education, into a modern A+ class office building, preserving its architectural heritage while introducing new functions that meet contemporary workplace requirements.

Our responsibility was to provide project management services for the development. Our project management team supported the organisation of construction and coordinated cooperation among the parties involved. One of the project's main challenges was the modernisation of the historic building and the integration of new building wings, while ensuring that the technical and functional requirements of a contemporary office environment were met.

During the renovation, the original brick and stone façades were restored, some later additions were removed, and new glass-fronted building wings were introduced. The historic and contemporary architectural elements remain clearly distinguishable while forming a cohesive building. The office complex also includes a roof terrace and a single-level underground car park.

Environmental considerations played an important role in the development, with the building achieving a BREEAM Excellent environmental assessment rating. The former military building was given a new function while retaining its historic character and its connection to the surrounding landscaped park. Officium has received several professional awards, including the Építőipari Nívódíj construction excellence award, jointly awarded to the Officium and Trafó office buildings at Akadémia Park.
