M0 Motorway Structures (15 structures), Eastern Sector (Main Road No. 4 Vecsés–Üllő Bypass)
The design of 15 road structures on the eastern sector of the M0 motorway, along the Main Road No. 4 Vecsés–Üllő bypass section, was connected to one of the important transport developments in the region. The aim of the development was to provide safer, higher-capacity infrastructure for traffic bypassing the capital, for the connections of Main Road No. 4 and for the transport system of the surrounding settlements.
We participated in the project with bridge design services. The general design of the 15 structures covered a total bridge surface of 10,585 square metres and a combined bridge length of 766.56 metres. The widths of the structures ranged from 8.63 to 25.83 metres, showing that the design had to respond to a variety of site and traffic situations.
The planned bridges included monolithic, voided monolithic and precast girder superstructures. The task involved the coordinated design of a group of structures with different structural solutions, all connected to a complete road section.
One of the key elements of the project was the grade-separated junction with collector-distributor lanes at the intersection of the M0 motorway and Main Road No. 4. In such a traffic situation, the structures must not only function properly from a structural point of view, but also precisely support traffic connections, safe crossings and operational requirements.
The importance of the design work came from the fact that the bridges function as part of a larger transport system. The coordinated design of the structures contributed to the operation of the eastern sector of the M0 motorway and the Vecsés–Üllő bypass section, as well as to relieving regional road connections.
