Renovation of the Zagyva Railway Bridge on the Szolnok–Szajol Line
The renovation of the Zagyva Bridge on the Szolnok–Szajol railway line was connected to the modernisation of a high-traffic, double-track, electrified railway section. The renewal of the two-span, through-type steel truss railway bridge crossing the Zagyva River was carried out while retaining the existing structure.
We participated in the project with bridge design services. Our bridge design office prepared the building permit and construction design documentation for the renovation of the bridge structure, retaining the existing steel truss main girders and reinforced concrete abutments.
The design work focused on the modernisation of the railway track structure, the reconstruction of the timber sleeper track on the bridge, and the preparation of a slab-track solution with rail channels. The renovation also included the renewal of corrosion protection, the construction of new maintenance walkways, and the use of a low-noise GREEN-BRIDGE deck system.
The engineering significance of the task came from the need to adapt the renovation to an operating, high-traffic railway environment. The aim of the solution was to create a more modern and durable track structure, better suited to railway operation requirements, while retaining the existing bridge structure.
