Klotild Palace reconstruction

Standing at the Pest end of Elisabeth Bridge, Klotild Palace is one of the landmark historic buildings of central Budapest. The comprehensive reconstruction of the northern building of the twin palaces, originally designed by Flóris Korb and Kálmán Giergl, began in the 2000s. The aim was to create a modern five-star hotel while preserving the heritage values of the listed building. The Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest Klotild Palace opened here in 2012.

Our task was to provide technical advisory services in connection with the financing of the development. Our work supported the technical basis of financing decisions for a complex project in which the constraints of a historic building had to be reconciled with the requirements of a contemporary hotel.

During the reconstruction, modern hotel spaces were created while preserving the palace’s defining architectural features. The hotel comprised 102 rooms and suites, along with dining, event and wellness facilities. Due to the constraints of the existing building, new functions, structures and interior solutions had to be carefully integrated into the historic spaces.
