Lenck-Villa in Sopron

The renewal of Lenck Villa and its garden restored a distinctive urban and cultural site in Sopron. The historic bourgeois villa on Deák Square regained a worthy role after a long period: following the renovation, it now serves as the home of the Sopron Museum’s permanent ethnographic exhibition, as well as an important community and cultural venue in the city.

The aim of the development was not only to restore the building technically and aesthetically, but also to make the villa accessible, usable and sustainable as a museum space in the long term. The renewal affected the exterior and interior spaces, structural and technical elements of the building, as well as its garden.

We participated in the investment with technical supervision services. Our work supported the professional control of the construction process, the review of technical content, quality assurance and the traceability of implementation.

One of the key challenges was to renew a valuable villa strongly connected to the city’s memory, while also meeting today’s museum, visitor, operational and safety requirements. In this heritage-sensitive environment, it was especially important to coordinate the existing architectural values, restoration tasks, modern mechanical and electrical systems, and exhibition functions.

With the renovation, Lenck Villa returned to Sopron’s urban life not only as a preserved architectural value, but also as a usable, living cultural venue. The renewed villa and its garden preserve the city’s bourgeois past, provide a home for an exhibition presenting craftsmanship and folk culture, and create a more open cultural space connected to everyday city life.
