Attila99 Loft
Attila99 Loft, located near Buda Castle, is a residential building created through the conversion of a former ELMŰ electrical substation, comprising 16 exclusive rental apartments. Originally designed by architect Dénes Györgyi for industrial and office use, the building has been transformed to accommodate loft apartments, a fitness and wellness area, a restaurant, a bakery and an automated parking system. The aim of the development was to create a distinctive residential building that respects its historic surroundings while offering modern amenities.
The conversion presented significant engineering challenges, as the structural and spatial characteristics of the former industrial building had to be adapted to its new function. Varying ceiling heights, the location of existing staircases and lifts, and large ventilation shafts created complex design and construction challenges. During the conversion of the building, situated in a historic urban setting, its original architectural character and industrial features were preserved while modern, high-quality living spaces were created.
We provided project management and technical supervision services during the implementation of the development. Our project management team supported the coordination of construction activities and collaboration among project participants, while our technical supervisors represented the client's interests by monitoring the quality of construction work, compliance with technical requirements and conformity with the approved designs. In building conversion projects of this kind, particular attention must be paid to coordinating existing structures with the technical requirements of new functions and ensuring consistent professional oversight of complex construction processes.
The adaptive reuse of the former industrial building is a valuable example of how a building of significance to the city's architectural history can be given a new function while preserving its original character. The development has also received professional recognition, winning the Residential Property Development of the Year award and receiving a commendation at the Budapest Architectural Award of Excellence.
